7 Quick Takes Friday

Linking up again with Jen from Conversion Diary.

1. I am so excited for this weekend. My mom, sister Erin and I are taking my newly-graduated sister on a SECRET TRIP. :) Emma has no idea where we're going but -- shhhh -- we're taking her to Dayton, OH to see the Broadway tour of Wicked! All she knows is to be ready to leave at 7 a.m. tomorrow (we're going to this really cool mall first, not trying to be 12 hours early for the show) and pack something nice to wear! Knowing she doesn't read this blog, I feel safe in my post!

2. This is a photo of a person who leads a REALLY good and comfortable lifestyle:

Or else it's the photo of a person who's about to eat my head off. Those eyes are something else.

3. This is also the photo of someone who knows who rules the kingdom in which he lives:

Anyone who can eat snacks while using the bathroom knows from the good life! And yes, apparently I am one of those "moms" who takes pics of their "kids" on the "potty." (And blogs about it!)

4. Mucho thanks to Jen for take #3. I about peed my pants reading that.  It brings a whole new meaning to emulating the Blessed Mother. :)

5. I don't know about you gals, but there are few things less comfortable than visiting a, shall we say, female doctor. I had to attend yesterday morning (nothing says HAVE A GREAT DAY! like stirrups at 8 a.m.). As if the appointment wasn't going to be awkward enough, I had jusssst covered myself in the paper gown and had slid down the table to "come closer!" to the doctor when she and the nurse decided the light wasn't close enough for her to get a "good look." (DEAR LORD.) At any rate -- the ensuing actions were Three Stooges worthy, as the cord became wrapped around the light, wouldn't stretch and both the doctor and nurse were contemplating how best to handle the situation whilst I sat spread eagle for the world to see. (Sorry if that's TMI, but only two people read this blog so I think it's okay. Hi Story and Jenna!)

6. I am ADORING this song. I listen to KLOVE usually all day while at work and this just makes me happy when I hear it. "Help us to remember we are all the least of these."

7. Lest you think I am a religious music purist, I must also admit that I LOVE this song. (Warning: explicit lyrics.) I can't help it. It's fun to run to!

News.

I read this today:

When Liam Hemsworth approached celebrity jeweler Neil Lane to create an engagement ring for Miley Cyrus he wanted “something unusual,” Lane tells PEOPLE exclusively. “Something really beautiful and romantic.”

I feel like I've read this sentence a million times. Just replace "Liam Hemsworth" and "Miley Cyrus" with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie or Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel and you've got yourselves a story.

Do you think ANY celebrity ever goes to the jeweler and says "I want something really ordinary. Something really plain and identical to someone else's ring."

Imitation

Tuesday, June 5, 2012

In this house, you never quite know when a rabbit might pop up out of nowhere. Last night, Snickers held his very own acting class, and took himself through an exercise of imitating various objects.

Snickers as a demon, prepping for his future role in Rosemary's Baby 2: Rosemary's Rabbit.

Snickers as a comforter/bed blanket.

Perhaps my favorite, Snickers as carpet. Can you even see him? There has to be a future in carpet imitation for bunnies.

Couch, Meet Butt. Again.

Uh oh. Anyone who knows me knows what this means.

Independence Day is on TV. I'm plastered to the couch. The trick is to turn off the TV before this showing ends and the encore presentation begins. Fingers crossed.

A side note: I always forget this movie features Alex Reger from Taxi. ALEX REGER.

Cheeseburgers and Trash TV

Today was dress rehearsal for my dance company's spring show tomorrow. I teach the youngest kids (Creative Movement) and they are being bunnies in a fun show called "Once Upon a Farm." There are 18 of them. I don't know if you've ever corralled 18 3- and 4-year-olds dressed as bunnies to dance on a stage, but I'd certainly recommend giving it a try. It looks a little something like this:

Post-dress rehearsal I guilted myself into doing Week 6, Day 3 of Couch to 5k, which I am still rocking. Post-Couch to 5k I promptly purchased myself a cheeseburger, fries and a Coke because God forbid I receive lasting health benefit from any physical activity I attempt. Just in case I hadn't used up all the calories I burned, I helped myself to two Little Debbies and washed them down with a handful of gummi worms. Shew. Here's hoping I never lose a pound due to running.

I discovered today that a good way to measure time is by amount of Lifetime movies one watches in a day. Every movie is exactly 2 hours, it's now 10:12 p.m., which means I've had this channel on... SINCE 4 p.m.?!? Heavens to Betsy. Hopefully the Nielsen rating people don't call to make sure I'm not dead and just happened to die with this channel on.

Seven Quick Takes Friday

Friday, June 1, 2012

1. A couple of days ago I pulled into the local Y, and this is what I saw:

Really? You're in a YMCA parking lot, so chances are -- so do a lot of people. Hope your self-righteous attitude makes you feel as good as sitting on the couch eating donuts does for me. :)

2. Seeing that bumper sticker made me think, what kind of bumper sticker do I need for my car? Perhaps something promoting Shepherd University, my alma mater. Or maybe something proclaiming my love for ballet. But then I saw this:

That pretty much explains it all.

3. Finding that bacon bumper sticker was only the beginning. I don't know about you, but once I get on a kick, I keep that going for a while. Funny webpage? I'm reading the WHOLE SITE IN ONE SITTING. Wikipedia is my kryptonite... and my crack.

4. I'm still laughing at this:

5. ...and this:

6. ...and this:

7. I'll be spending Saturday at dress rehearsal for my dance company's spring show and then I'll be at the show itself Sunday. The little kids' recital is entitled "Once Upon a Farm," and the kids I teach (3- and 4-year-olds) are playing bunnies. There are 18 of them. EIGHTEEN BUNNIES ON ONE STAGE. I can't make this stuff up.

(For way better takes, go see Jen.)
