Do you know what I am the queen of? (Which has totally been exacerbated by the fact that I'm home all summer doing homework for graduate school.)

Getting distracted by random tasks.

For example, I went to the bathroom earlier in the middle of working on a research study analysis for graduate school. I noticed that there were some cotton balls on the floor that had fallen out of the box I have them in, so I went to pick them up and throw them away, when I decided the floor was dirty and needed scrubbed, so I did that too. Or I'll walk into the kitchen to grab some water and decide I HAVE to clean out the fridge right that minute. A couple of weeks ago I went to get the vacuum out of the closet and decided there was too much stuff in there, so I spent the next hour going through everything in my closet and throwing it away. The time I do this most is if I go shopping. If I get some new clothes, I absolutely clean out my closet before I can put the new clothes away. I pretty much go through all the clothes in my closet at least four times a year. I just hate being suffocated by my stuff, you know? I love, love, love to throw things away! (I guess I should say "give" things away -- I donate a lot of stuff.)

I don't know about you, but it's like I cannot rest if this stuff is not done. Like there is no way I could be in here finishing my grad work if I still thought that floor was dirty. Or there's no way I can go to bed if I see those dishes still in the sink. Or (and this is probably the wackiest one where I should definitely stop), if I bring groceries home and have to go to the bathroom, I put all the groceries away before I go to the bathroom. I think a teacher would refer to this as being "off-task."

I know, I know.

I'll see myself out.
